burnt umberings: The Lady Umbrage Dress. Long graceful dress with an underpinning of attitude. She could go all umbragey at any time. Raw freeform pleating at the chest forms a dramatic collar and also influences the drape, right down to the nicely arching hem.
About this color: I have dyed this garment to a deep saturated shade of burnt umber with black highlights. Burnt umber is both brown and red, each fighting the good fight for your consideration. It is not: rust, burgundy, or maroon, somehow. Trust me, I stared at it for a very long time. It is: super lush ... deep ... earthy ... oxide-infused ... and inherently painterly.
