extantish — draped linen jacket

I hit most of my favorite notes on this one: a piece that seems to be from another time but not any period we can pinpoint. Maybe it was made from a few pieces of worn work clothes. Maybe it was unearthed in a cavernous long-empty barn with slivers of sunlight poring through gaps in the aged wood. A combination of curves and boxiness, refined finished seams contrasting with raw. And then: one odd striped tip that matches the collar trim. Lots of hints; few facts.

Linen jacket that I made by assembling sort-of-random curved linen panels together, plus a bunch of draping and sculpting. After I made it I garment-dyed this jacket in mottled teal. It was made from a few different colors of linen before I dyed it, so the shades vary. Shown alone and also over the understayed dress.
