I'm a big fan of Peter Voulkos ceramics. He made rough-edged raw work that was sometimes closer to abstract art than "just" functional, though it was often both. Their energy is everything I'm aiming for when I make certain clothing pieces. His work sparks mine. So this, in turn, is my painted semi-abstracted version of his teapot. This is one of three Voulkos works I've painted.
