Curvilinear: An Weird Architectural Sack
Curvilinear: An Weird Architectural Sack
I know social media is a hellscape but I go on there determined to connect with kind people, and to be my awkward funny self and meet other awkward funny selves. It can be done. Which I mention because I ended up chatting with someone on Bluesky who used the phrase Weird Architectural Sack — thereby giving name to a thing we all know and love but maybe didn't have a word for. (Like mullet, for me, growing up.)
I said I MAKE THOSE. And then checked with her to see if she would let me use her fine phraseology and she said yes.
ANYWAY the party is ALL OVER this dress; no business to be found. It's got one armhole and one adjustable strap, a large blackhole-shaped pocket, and so, so many different panels. I meant to count them all, but enlarge these many pictures and look at the one with the single non-striped panel and you'll get the idea. There's also one (1) large pleat on the back.
Construction note: It's all serged on the inside then top-stitched with zig-zagging on the outside. Maybe that's why I was too tired to count them all. ha!
